Tom has recently begun to specialize in file knives that are made from old Nicholson files and rasps. Nicholson files are all made from W2 and Tom has developed a process whereby he can anneal them slightly to avoid brittleness and he makes fine knives from the files. Most of them are cold blued and look like they were made 150 years ago. They are very popular with Revolutionary and Civil War re-enactors since they look like they came from that period and of course they are fully functional, and come into daily use during the re-enactments, especially when camping overnight.
